Mosley's Double-Double Lifts Titans Over Aggies
Jan. 20, 2005 – Fullerton, Calif.

Box Score

Cal State Fullerton senior Melanie Mosley tallied her first career double-double, including a career-high 18 rebounds, to help the Titans snap their nine-game losing streak with a 64-55 victory over visiting Utah State on Thursday night at Titan Gym.

Fullerton improved to 2-12 overall and earned its first Big West Conference victory of the season in improving to 1-5. Utah State saw its three-game winning streak snapped in falling to 8-7 overall, 3-3 in league play.

Mosley added 10 points on the night to go with her big night on the boards. Mosley, whose previous career high of 13 rebounds was set last weekend against UC Irvine, has averaged 14.3 rpg in her last three contests.

She led three other Titans in double figures as junior Andrea Adams had a game-high 16 points, sophomore Charlee Underwood added 13 points and three blocks, and junior Amber Pruitt tallied 11 points.

Utah State was led by Jessica Freeman and Christina Zdenek, who had 10 points apiece.

Fullerton, which led at halftime for only the fourth time in 14 games this season at 27-24, led by as many as eight points with just under four minutes remaining in the opening period, but a frantic 9-2 run by the Aggies brought them to within one point at 25-24 with :41 remaining.

A jumper by Underwood with :23 left in the half gave the Titans the lead heading into the lockerroom.

The second half saw both teams trade baskets to start the period with the Titans eventually increasing their lead back to eight points with 15:15 to go. However, a 9-2 run by the Aggies which featured three-pointers by Brittany Hagen and Zdenek closed the gap to one point at 41-40 just over a minute later.

Utah State would come to within one point agains at 45-44 with 9:08 remaining, but an 11-2 run by Cal State Fullerton increased its lead to 10 points and the Titans never looked back.

Fullerton shot 45 percent from the floor and held a 42-39 advantage on the boards -- only the second time this season (the last coming in a double overtime loss to Cal State Northridge) that the Titans have outrebounded an opponent.

The Titans return to action on Saturday (Jan. 22) at 7 p.m. as Fullerton tips off against Idaho at Titan Gym. Former Cal State Fullerton All-American and current assistant coach Eugenia Miller-Rycraw will be honored for her contributions to Titan basketball prior to the game.
