Anteaters Lead Wire-to-Wire, Down Titans 65-52 Feb. 10, 2005 Fullerton, Calif. UC Irvine’s Angie Ned led all scorers with 30 points as the
Anteaters defeated Cal State Fullerton 65-52 in a Big West Conference
match-up Thursday night at Titan Gym.
With the win Irvine improves to 4-16 overall and 3-9 in the Big West Conference.
The Titans fall to 4-16 (2-9).
Fullerton couldn’t get its second win in a row as UCI jumped out
to a 9-2 lead in the first half and never looked back. The Titans got
as close as two points at 32-30, 4:30 into the second half, but couldn’t
catch the Anteater offense. UCI shot 47 percent (22-for-45) from the field
and 58 percent (7-for-12) beyond the three-point line while the Titans
shot 33 percent (18-for-54) and 39 percent (5-for-13) respectively.
Guard Charlee Underwood led the Titans with 21 points knocking down 2
three-pointers while guard Andrea Adams collected six points (on two three
pointers) and six assists. Freshman Dayana Frias added seven points and
Melanie Mosley pulled down 7 rebounds in the loss.
Irvine’s Melissa Jacob picked up 10 points and five assists along
with Ned who picked up four three-pointers and 10 field goals en route
to her 30-point night.
Cal State Fullerton returns to Titan Gym Saturday night to face the Gauchos
of UC Santa Barbara. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
