Double-Double Lifts 49ers Past Titans Feb. 12, 2005 – Fullerton, Calif. Box Score Long Beach State senior Aisha Hollans scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help lift the visiting 49ers to a 67-50 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night at Titan Gym. The Titans fell to 4-17 overall, 2-10 in the Big West Conference while Long Beach State kept pace with the league leaders in improving to 15-6 overall, 10-3 in league play. Hollans led two other 49ers in double figures as Jayme Conners and Petra Glaeser added 11 points in the win. Fullerton was led by sophomore Charlee Underwood, who had 15 points, and Dayana Frias, who came off the bench to add a career-high 14 points. Senior Melanie Mosley led the Titans with 12 rebounds. Cal State Fullerton led by three in the first five minutes, but the advantage was short-lived as a 15-2 run by Long Beach State over the next four minutes gave the 49ers a 10-point lead with 10:41 to play. The 49ers led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but the Titans scored five of the final seven points of the half to close to within seven points, 31-24, at the break. Fullerton hit the opening basket in the second half to cut the deficit to four and trailed by as few as five points with 14:12 remaining, but an 11-3 run by Long Beach State gave the 49ers a 13-point lead and they never looked back. The Titans shot just .361 from the floor to the 49ers .472, but outrebounded Long Beach State, 40-38, on the night. Cal State Fullerton hurt itself, committing 20 turnovers on the night. Cal State Fullerton returns to action next week with its final trip to the northern conference contingent, facing Idaho on Thursday (Feb. 17) and Utah State on Saturday (Feb. 19). ####
