Hold Off Aggies' Rally For 75-69 Victory Feb. 7, 2005 – Fullerton, Calif. Box Score Cal State Fullerton had three starters in double figures and withstood a late charge by visiting UC Davis to clinch a 75-69 victory over the Aggies in a non-conference basketball match-up on Monday night at Titan Gym. The win for the Titans improved them to 4-15 overall, snapping a brief two-game losing skid and avenged an earlier, 70-55, defeat in Davis, Calif., on Jan. 8. The loss dropped the Aggies to 6-16 overall and 2-8 against Big West opponents this year. Fullerton led by 11 points at the half after shooting 46 percent from the floor, and extended its lead to as many as 23 points with 13:22 remaining in the second half thanks to a 17-5 run to open the period. That's when UC Davis exploded, outscoring the Titans 28-8 over the next 12 minutes to whittle Fullerton's lead down to three points at 68-65 with 1:54 remaining. A jumper by junior Amber Pruitt put the Titans back up by five and iced the game after hitting 3-of-4 from the line and getting a bucket from junior Andrea Adams with two seconds remaining. Cal State Fullerton was led by Adams' 18 points, six assists, and four steals on the night. Sophomore Charlee Underwood added 17 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Audrey Taylor added 12 points and six assists in the victory. The Aggies were led by Ellen Porshneva, who scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go with eight rebounds. Laura Thomas (16 points) and Jessica Campbell (11 points) were also in double figures. UC Davis, which shot a blistering 54.2 percent from the field in the first half, cooled off significantly after the break, hitting on only 35.7 percent of its shots in the second half and finished shooting 44 percent for the game. Fullerton, on the other had, shot 48 percent in the second half in jumping out to its big lead, and finished shooting 47 percent from the floor for the game. The Titans also held a 38-31 advantage on the boards. ####
