Andrea Adams scored 14 points and Amber Pruitt scored 10 points and grabbed
a game-high 13 rebounds Thursday night to lead Cal State Fullerton to
a 64-57 Big West Conference women's basketball victory at Cal Poly.
The Titans won for the second time in three games to improve to 3-13 overall
and 2-6 in the Big West. Nicole Yarwasky had 15 points and Jessica Eggleston
added 14 for the Mustangs, who fell to 9-7 and 3-5.
Fullerton's margin of victory came at the free-throw line where the Titans
made 15 of 25 tries to only 6 of 13 by Cal Poly.
Fullerton broke away from a 49-49 tie at the 8-minute
mark as Adams hit a 3-pointer followed by 2-pointers by Pruitt and Melanie
Mosley for a 56-49 Titan advantage. Cal Poly got as close as 3 points
at 56-53 at the 3:51 mark, but India McDaniel hit two free throws and
Dayana Frias added a 3-point play at 1:13 to get Fullerton comfortably
ahead by 8 points.
McDaniel scored a total of 12 oints off the bench on 4 of 5 shooting from
the floor and 4 of 7 at the foul line in only 21 minutes of action. The
Titans won despite making only 1 of 10 3-point tries.
Fullerton travels to powerful UC Santa Barbara
on Saturday night.
