Quinn Named Big West Player of the Week
Jan. 26, 2004 – Fullerton, Calif.

Cal State Fullerton senior guard Tamara Quinn was named the Big West Conference women's basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after helping lead the Titans to a 2-0 weekend against Utah State and Idaho.

Quinn becomes Fullerton's first player of the week winner in almost five years. The last Titan to win the award was Erin Whiteside, who earned the award on Feb. 1, 1999. Quinn becomes the 11th different Titan to win player of the week honors since 1986.

Quinn averaged 14.5 ppg and had numerous clutch baskets in last weekend's victories. On Thursday, she drove the length of the court and sank the game-winning lay-up with :03 remaining on the clock to defeat the Aggies.

On Saturday at Idaho, Quinn twice hit game-tying baskets and assisted on Jaime Wagner's game-winning three pointer with 1:02 remaining to snap the Vandals' 11-game home winning streak. She finished the game with 22 points, five rebounds, and a career-high seven assists.

Quinn also averaged 6.0 rpg and 5.5 apg while hitting on 12-of-24 (.500) from the field and notching five steals.

She is averaging a team-best 11.7 ppg (which also ranks 14th in the Big West) and ranks in the top 10 in the conference in free throw percentage (.805), three-point percentage (.366), assists (2.94) and three-pointers made (1.62 pg).

Fullerton returns home this weekend to host a pair of games at Titan Gym. The Titans open the short two-game homestand on Thursday night (Jan. 29) at 7 p.m. against Cal Poly before hosting defending conference champion UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Jan. 31) at 7 p.m.
