Women's Basketball Coaches
The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team filled its final assistant coaching vacancy on Oct. 21 with the hiring of former California assistant coach Shaunice Warr. She replaces the departed Fred Williams, who resigned his post on Oct. 3 for personal reasons. Warr comes to the Titans after spending the last two seasons (2000-02) as an assistant with the Golden Bears under head coach Caren Horstmeyer, helping to lead Cal to a 19-37 overall record and an 10-26 mark in the Pacific-10 Conference - includng helping the Golden Bears improve from eighth in the Pac-10 to a sixth-place tie in 2000-01. She was the coaching staff's senior recruiter while also working with the Golden Bears' backcourt. Prior to that, she spent three seasons (1997-2000) under Horstmeyer as an assistant at West Coast Conference powerhouse Santa Clara, helping lead the Broncos to two berths in the NCAA tournament (1997-99), one WNIT selection (1999-00) and a 66-24 record (32-10 in the West Coast Conference, including two WCC titles). Warr also served one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Arizona State from 1996-97. In her playing days, Warr was an All-Big Sky Conference selection at Northern Arizona as a junior as well as being named team MVP that year. As a senior, she was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year. She transferred to NAU after two seasons at Snow Junior College in Ephraim, Utah, where she was a two-time JC All-American and Academic All-America basketball and volleyball player. Warr graduated in 1996 from Northern Arizona with a degree in psychology and a minor in coaching. She currently resides in Fullerton.
