Barbara Slams Cal State Fullerton, 80-48 Feb. 28, 2002 Fullerton, Calif. Box Score The visiting UC Santa Barbara Gauchos tallied four players in double figures paced by Kayte Christensens double-double to lead UCSB to an, 80-48, victory over the host Cal State Fullerton Titans in a Big West womens basketball match-up on Thursday night at Titan Gym in front of 272 fans. Cal State Fullerton fell to 4-22 overall and 2-13 in the conference while UC Santa Barbara kept alive its hopes of an undefeated conference season, improving to 21-5 overall and 15-0 in league action. Aside from Christensens double-double, UCSB had three other players score 10-or-more points on the night. Freshman Mia Fisher added 15 points, four steals and four assists, sophomore Lindsay Taylor scored 15 of her 17 total points in the second half to go with six rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Kristen Mann added 12 points and four rebounds. On the other side, nine Titans got into the scoring column, but no Cal State Fullerton player reached the double-digit plateau. Freshman Catherine Holman led the way with nine points while senior Allison Parks added eight points. Sophomore Tamara Quinn added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds. The Gauchos shot just under 45 percent from the floor for the game, compared to the Titans 34.7 percent, and outrebounded Cal State Fullerton by a, 48-28, margin. Half of UCSBs rebounds on the night were on the offensive end. UC Santa Barbara forced Fullerton into 26 turnovers and capitalized with 22 points off those turnovers and collecting 16 steals. The Gauchos outscored the Titans, 26-10 in the paint and had a 23-8 advantage in second-chance points. Cal State Fullerton closes out the 2001-02 regular season with the home finale against Cal Poly on Saturday (Mar. 2) at 7 p.m. at Titan Gym. Fullerton seniors Lindsay Sotero, Tricia Lamb, Allison Parks, Chante Gifford and Katie McCluskey will be appearing in their final home games as Titans and will be honored in a special pregame ceremony for their contributions to the Cal State Fullerton womens basketball program. ####
