UC Santa Barbara had three players in double-figures and held visiting
Cal State Fullerton to just 19 points in the second half en route to an,
86-41, victory over the Titans in a Big West Conference women's basketball
game on Wednesday night at the Thunderdome in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton fell to 3-18 overall and 1-9 in the Big West while
UC Santa Barbara improved to 14-5 overall and 8-0 in league action.
The Titans were led by junior forward Heather Hansen, who notched her
seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in
27 minutes of play. Allison Parks had her best game of the season thus
far, adding a season-high 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting before fouling
out.
The Gauchos were led by freshman forward Kristen Mann, who also had a
double-double on the night with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go along
with four steals. Another freshman, guard Mia Fisher, added 17 points,
five rebounds and five assists, while Kayte Christensen notched 11 points
and nine rebounds.
UCSB outrebounded Cal State Fullerton, 50-35, including a 29-17 advantage
on the offensive boards. The Titans also committed 28 turnovers to UCSB's
17 while the Gauchos capitalized on defense with 15 steals in the game.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Sunday (Feb. 10) as they take
on UC Riverside at the Student Recreation Center at 2 p.m.
