Cal State Fullerton improved to 1-2 overall on the season and, in the process, snapped a 10-game losing streak dating back to last year. Morgan State fell to 0-4 overall on the season. Hansen actually tied her previous career-high of 18 points in the first half, hitting on 6-of-8 from the floor and making 6-of-9 from the free throw line while also grabbing five rebounds. In the second half, however, she was only 1-for-7 from the floor with six boards. Senior guard Chante Gifford had 11 points on the night to go with three steals while sophomore Tamara Quinn had 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, three rebounds, and two assists. Morgan State had four starters in double-figures on the night, led by Calibra Alston, who had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Chanelle Scott also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards while Erinn Coleman had 12 points. Guard Zakiya Gardner also added 10 points, seven assists and three steals for the Bears on the night. The Titans led by as many as five points in the opening 1:30, but the hot-shooting Bears battled back and led by as many as seven points before Fullerton battled back with just under five minutes remaining. Trailing by five points at, 30-25, the Titans closed out the period with a 10-4 run as five different players scored for Fullerton during that stretch to head into the lockerroom up, 35-34, at the break. In the second half, Morgan State regained the lead on an early lay-up by Gardner, but the Titans bounced back with a lay-up by Quinn and Fullerton led from there on out. The Titans led by as many as 13 points midway through the second half and led by 12 points with just under six minutes remaining. However, the Bears would not go away quietly, finishing the game on an 11-4 run, including a three-pointer by Courtney Cox with half a second left on the clock just past the halfcourt line to make the final score, 64-59. Cal State Fullerton shot 41.3 percent for the game and held a slim, 43-41, edge on the boards over Morgan State. Both teams were cold at the free throw line (61.1 percent for Fullerton and 47.1 for Morgan State) and from long distance (1-for-10 for Fullerton, 3-for-10 for Morgan State). The Titans return to action on Monday (Dec. 3) as they hit the road to face Fresno State at 7 p.m. to kick off a three-game road trip that also sees them play games at Eastern Washington (Dec. 6) and Gonzaga (Dec. 8). ####.
