Soar to 67-50 Victory Over Titans Dec. 6, 2001 Cheney, Wash. Box Score Eastern Washington forward AllieBailey scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the second half and the Eaglesgrabbed 19 offensive rebounds as EWU defeated the visiting Cal State Fullerton Titans, 67-50, on Thursday night in front of 429 fans at Reese Court in Cheney,Wash. The Titans fell to 1-4 overall and have lost their last twocontests. The Eagles improved to 2-5 overall on the season. Two bright spots for Cal State Fullerton on the evening werecareer nights by sophomore Rochelle Ortega and freshman Catherine Holman.Ortega was a perfect 9-for-9 from the field and led the team with 19 points andsix rebounds. Holman added 16 points including 8-for-11 from the free throwline and a team-best nine rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Bailey, who was just 1-for-3 from the floor for two pointsin the first half, was 7-for-10 in the second half in 18 minutes of play. KathleenNygaard and Stephanie Ulmer were also in double-figures, adding 11 and 10points on the night, respectively. The Titans were outrebounded 44-37 on the night, including19-13 on the offensive boards giving Eastern Washington numerous second chancesthroughout the game. EWU also heated things up in the second halfshooting-wise, hitting on 15-of-35 (.429) from the floor compared toFullertons 10-for-30 (.300). Cal State Fullerton trailed by only five points at thebreak, and got to within three points at 31-28 just two minutes into the secondperiod. However a quick 6-0 run by Eastern Washington put the Eagles up 41-30and they never looked back. The Cal State Fullerton womens basketball team closes outits three-game road trip on Saturday night (Dec. 8) at 7 p.m. as the Titanstake on Gonzaga in Spokane, WA.
