Titans Beat Northridge Again FEB. 24, 2002– Northridge, CA
Heather Hansem scored 18 points and Tamara Quinn
added 15 Sunday afternoon as Cal State Fullerton completed a season sweep
of Cal State Northridge with a 71-63 Big West Conference victory. The
win elevated the Titans into a tie for eighth place in the standings with
the Matadors and Fullerton holds the tie-breaker by virtue of the sweep
for the final berth in the post-season tournament in Anaheim beginning
March 6.
The Titans overcame a 9-0 Matador start, not scoring until the 15:12 mark
on a Lindsay Sotero layup. The Titans first went ahead at 18-17 at 9:08
on a Quinn jumper and led for good after a Sotero 3-pointer made it 26-23
with 4:55 remaining. A 15-3 run in the middle of the second half pushed
the lead to as many as 15 points but the Matadors got only as close as
69-63 in the final minute.
Fullerton wraps up the season with home games Thursday and Saturday nights
in Titan Gym against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly, respectively.
