Player Bios
CAL STATE FULLERTON 2003: Led the team in kills (300) and kills per game (3.53), while ranking second in digs (254) and digs per game (2.99) • tied for fourth on the team with 18 aces and fifth in total blocks (34) • named to the Big West Honorable Mention team • earned All-Tournament honors at the UNLV Game Works Invitational, helping the Titans to a second-place finish • had 18 matches with 10-or-more kills, including a streak of eight-straight • tallied a season-best 25 kills vs. UC Riverside on Oct. 4 – one short of her career high • also had 20 kills on the road at Utah State on Oct. 16 • had 13 matches of double-digit digs, including 17 twice. 2002: Earned honorable mention All-Big West honors • Named Most Outstanding Player at the Rose Hill Classic, after helping the Titans to three-game sweeps over host Fordham and Iona • Also named to the all-tournament teams at the Nike Portland Invitational and the TIS/Taylor Imprinted Sportswear Classic • Her 3.94 kpg was fifth best in the Big West and her 2.98 dpg were 10th best • Led the Titans with 34 service aces (0.33 pg was 10th in the Big West) • Had double figures in kills in all but six matches • Had a career-high 26 in a win over UC Riverside on Nov. 22 • Also had double figures in digs 16 times. 2001: One of the Titans’ most valuable freshmen, Goins appeared in 20 matches • Solid all-around player who averaged 0.69 kills and 1.96 digs per game • Blossomed late in the season and took advantage of extra playing time over the last pair of home matches, tallying 12 kills vs. Cal Poly on Nov. 9 and following up with 13 kills against UC Santa Barbara a night later • Reached double figures in digs four times, with a season-high 12 against Loyola Marymount on Oct. 30 • Led the team with 0.30 service aces per game. HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Coach Troy Abbey at Southern California powerhouse La Habra H.S. • Helped the Highlanders to a pair of CIF Southern Section championships (1998, 2000) and also to a state runner-up showing as a senior • Earned All-Freeway League honors as a senior and was named the league’s Scholar Athlete of the Year • Was also a league champion in badminton and played soccer as well for La Habra. PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 22, 1983, in Anaheim, Calif. • Parents are Dale and Peggy Goins • Has three younger siblings: Katie, Sarah and Ellesse • Majoring in kinesiology • Wants to play pro volleyball in Europe and eventually coach at the college level • Would like to see Hawaii added to the Titans’ schedule • Favorite athlete is Lance Armstrong • Favorite movie is The Sound of Music and favorite TV show is Saturday Night Live.
