Titans Sweep Aggies in 10th Home Win
Oct. 29, 2004 – Fullerton, Calif.

Box Score

Senior Lauren Goins led all players with 14 kills and junior Sarah Morrison added 12 more as Cal State Fullerton swept UC Davis 3-0 (30-25, 30-19, 30-20) in a non-conference women’s volleyball match Friday night at Titan Gym.

The Titans snapped their four-game losing streak and improved to 11-11 overall and the Aggies fell to 1-18. By defeating Davis, Fullerton earned a place in the Titan record book by becoming the first women’s volleyball team to ever win 10 home games in the sports 29-year history.

After a slow start in game one, Fullerton took control of the match and out hit the Aggies .316 to .106 on the night and .444 to .184 in the third and final game.

Fullerton also out-blocked Davis 10-2 as junior Alyssa Opeka led all blockers with four. Titans Amy Dixon and Carley Dial each added three to the mix.

Kate Wilton led the Aggie offense with 11 kills and three scored double-digits in digs to try to stop the Titan attack. Katelyn Astruc led all defenders with her 14 digs while Mary McClelland added 11, and Marritt Cafarchia 10.

The Titans continue their home stand next weekend with two Big West Conference match-ups. The Cal State Northridge Matadors and the Pacific Tigers come to town November 5th and 6th for two 7:00 p.m. games at Titan Gym.
