Former Long Beach Star Joins Titans'
Staff June 1, 2005– Fullerton, Calif.
Traci Dahl, a prominent member of Long Beach State’s 1993 national
championship women’s volleyball squad and more recently an assistant
coach at Hofstra University, has been appointed an assistant to Head Coach
Carolyn Zimmerman at Cal State Fullerton.
"I am thrilled to welcome Traci to the Cal State Fullerton volleyball
program. Traci was a great collegiate player who will be a great role
model for our student athletes," Zimmerman said.
"She has a proven track record as a high achiever and I expect her
to make an immediate contribution to our program. The coaching experience
she gained coming up through the junior college and high school ranks
to her more recent stint as a coach and recruiting coordinator at Hofstra
University compliments Traci's drive for excellence and makes her a great
addition to the coaching staff at Cal State Fullerton."
Dahl coached the past season at Hofstra in Hempstead, NY, where the Pride
went 19-10 and finished second in the Colonial Athletic Association. She
previously served six years (1998-2004) as a teacher and coach at Downey
High School and two years (1995-97) at Cerritos Community College. She
graduated in 1996 from Long Beach State with a bachelor’s degree
in physical education. She earned second-team All-Big West Conference
honors in 1993 and first-team honors in 1994 when she also gained second-team
All-American status.
Dahl previously played at Cerritos and twice (1991 & 1992) was selected
South Coast Conference Player of the Year. In 1992 she was California
Player of the Year and first-team All-American and led the Falcons to
the state championship.
Her volleyball career began at Gahr High School in Cerritos, where she
won All-San Gabriel Valley League honors as well as a 1989 CIF championship.
Dahl replaces Ken Ko, who took a similar position at Washington State.
