IDAHO STATE 3, PROVIDENCE 0 Idaho State earned its first victory of the 2004 Four Points Titan
Classic on Saturday afternoon, defeating Providence College in three games
by the scores of 30-14, 30-13, 30-17, at Titan Gym.
The Bengals improved to 3-5 overall (1-1 in tournament play) while the
Friars fell to 1-6 overall (0-2 in tournament play).
Heather Kinnison and Nikki Randall each reached double figures in kills
for ISU as Kinnison slammed down a match-high 12 for the Bengals. Idaho
State hit a tournament-best .404 for the match, making just eight errors
in 89 attempts.
Providence was led by Ayanna Cadres, who had eight kills, but the Friars
had 23 errors to just 24 kills, hitting .011 for the game.
Idaho State also dominated at the net, outblocking Providence College,
11-2.
The Friars meet San Jose State at 4:30 p.m. PDT in the final tournament
match for both schools while the Bengals face host Cal State Fullerton
at 7:30 p.m.

for the match to help lift San Jose State to a 30-18, 30-18, 30-10, victory
over Providence College in the final match for both teams at the 2004
Four Points Titan Classic at Titan Gym.
SJSU improved to 5-1 overall (2-1 in the tournament) on the season while
the Friars fell to 1-7 overall (0-3 in the tournament).
The Spartans hit .374 as a team for the match, including six players who
hit better than .350. Sarah Christensen added 12 kills for San Jose State,
which also outblocked Providence, 8-2.
The Friars were led by Ayana Cadres, who had 12 kills to lead all players.
Jennifer Backes had a match-high 14 digs for Providence.
In the shortest match of the tournament thus far (1:09), San Jose State
thoroughly dominated the flow of the match, scoring 12 of the first 13
points in game one and scoring the first eight points in game three to
set the tone for the sweep.
