Erika Chidester had 21 kills and 11 digs as No. 23 Long Beach State beat
Cal State Fullerton in four games in a Big West Conference volleyball
match at Titan Gym Saturday night.
The 49ers improved to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in Big West action while the
Titans fell to 6-7 and 0-2. Fullerton had not extended the 49ers to four
games since 2000.
Fullerton trailed, two games to none, before winning game three convincingly
and nearly taking the fourth game as well. The Titans twice had game point
opportunities before the 49ers rallied for the final three points of the
match.
The Titans, who outblocked Long Beach, 11 to 9, were paced by Lauren Goins'
18 kills. Sarah Morrison added 13 kills and Alyssa Opeka tallied 11 kills.
Jenna Carney had 47 assists and Anya Ferry had a match-high 15 digs.
Fullerton returns to action Friday night at Cal Poly.
