Lauren Goins led the Titans with 13 kills and 10 digs, while Alyssa Opeka
added 11 kills as Cal State Fullerton beat Lamar in four games in the
opener of the UNLV Game Works Invitational Friday night.
The Titans, who improved to 4-1, won, 31-29, 30-25, 26-30, 30-25.
The Cardinals opened the match by grabbing a quick 11-4 lead before a
6-1 run by the Titans shifted momentum. Fullerton pounced on the Cardinals
in game two and maintained control for most of the game. Behind
a .316 team hitting percentage, CSF held Lamar at bay to take a 2-0 lead
in the match.
Lamar secured a 30-26 victory behind a match-high .310 team hitting percentages
but numerous hitting errors in game four proved too costly and the Titans
escaped with a 30-25 win to claim the match.
