HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-year letterwinner at Muncie Central H.S.
in Muncie, Ind. • Helped her team to state championships as a freshman
and sophomore and to a second-place showing her junior season • Gained
all-conference and all-state recognition as a junior and again as a senior,
when she was also named the MVP at the Mishawaka Invitational • As
a senior, she tallied 67 kills (.456 attack percentage), 745 assists, 25
service aces and 93 digs in 66 games • Also a two-year letterwinner
in track • An honor roll member and student council treasurer, Shondell
also earned Outstanding Achievement Awards in mass media (directing) and
physical education.
PERSONAL: Born on Oct. 25, 1983 in Muncie, Ind. • Parents are
David and Angela Shondell • Has three siblings: Karli (19), Ashlee
(15) and Kyle (12) • Majoring in communications • Played 12 years
with the perennially strong Munciana Volleyball Club • Says she chose
to attend Fullerton because “the people were very genuine, the weather
was great and everything seemed to be just what I wanted” • Also
considered attending George Washington, Connecticut and Southern Illinois
• Would like to see a midwest school added to the Titans’ schedule
• Credits her dad as having the most influence on her • Best advice
to kids is to “be yourself, stand up for what you believe in and listen
to your parents” • Has two dogs, Huck and Sosa • Favorite
athletes are Sammy Sosa and Bonzi Wells • Favorite foods are fried
chicken and mashed potatoes.
