2001: One of the Titans’ most valuable freshman, Goins appeared
in 20 matches • Solid all-around player who averaged 0.69 kills and
1.96 digs per game • Blossomed late in the season and took advantage
of extra playing time over the last pair of home games, tallying 12 kills
vs. Cal Poly on Nov. 9 and following up with 13 kills against UC Santa Barbara
a night later • Reached double figures in digs four times, with a season-high
12 against Loyola Marymount on Oct. 30.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Coach Troy Abbey at Southern California powerhouse
La Habra H.S. • Helped the Highlanders to a pair of CIF Southern Section
championships (1998, 2000) and also to a state runner-up showing as a senior
• Earned All-Freeway League honors as a senior and was named the league’s
Scholar Athlete of the Year • Was also a league champion in badminton
and played soccer as well for La Habra.
PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 22, 1983, in Anaheim, Calif. • Parents
are Dale and Peggy Goins • Has three younger siblings: Katie (17),
Sarah (16) and Ellesse (13) • Majoring in English with the hopes of
being a teacher and coach • Would like to see Harvard added to the
Titans’ schedule • Favorite movie is The Sound of Music and favorite
TV show is Saturday Night Live • Says she’s better than anyone
else at badminton...but she’s never been able to surf • Enjoys
acting and was a member of the Thespian Society in high school.
