Goins Named Top Player as Titans Take Two

Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Goins was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Rose Hill Classic in the Bronx, N.Y. after helping the Titans to three-game sweeps over host Fordham and Iona Saturday.

The Titans, who rebounded from a tournament-opening loss to Tennessee on Friday, finished second in the four-team tourney and improved to 2-1 on the young season. Fullerton scored a 30-16, 30-19, 30-25 win over Fordham and beat Iona by counts of 30-25, 30-26, 30-18.

Goins had 15 kills (.361 attack percentage) and 14 kills against Fordham and followed that effort with 15 kills and 15 digs against Iona. She was joined on the all-tournament team by senior setter Kim Levey, who tallied 37 assists and 12 digs against the Rams and had 40 assists and eight digs against Iona.

Fullerton will remain in New York through the holiday weekend, with a pair of games slated for Monday. The Titans will visit Long Island at 11 a.m. EDT and will play at Manhattan at 6 p.m. EDT.
