Titans Waste Game 3 Chances Before Winning in 5

Megan Sabo had team highs with 20 kills and 23 digs to pace the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball team to a five-game win over Idaho in a Big West Conference match at Titan Gym Friday night.

The Titans, who have won four consecutive matches for the first time since 1998, improved to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in Big West Conference play. For the first time in program history, the Titans are better than .500 in conference play. Idaho fell to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference.

Fullerton had four match-point opportunities in the third game before Idaho rallied for the win. The Vandals hung on for a narrow win in the fourth game and led early in the fifth game before the Titans put together a decisive rally. Fullerton scored five straight points to take an 8-4 lead and never trailed.

Senior middle blocker Katie Crawford had 17 kills (.471 attack percentage) for the Titans and Roxanne Barlow and Be Holcombe each had 13. Kim Levey had 52 assists and 13 digs. The Vandals were paced by Brooke Haeberle, who had a match-high 21 kills and Anne-Marie Hammond, who nailed down 19 kills.

Fullerton will host Utah State on Saturday night while Idaho will travel to UC Riverside.
