Missouri State Takes Four Points Title Sept. 1, 2001 Fullerton, Calif. Tournament Most Valuable Player Rese McNatt (out of Rosary H.S. in Fullerton) had 14 kills and 12 digs to lead Southwest Missouri State to a 24-30, 31-29, 30-23, 30-24, win over Cal State Fullerton in the championship match of the Four Points Titan Classic Saturday night. The Bears (3-0), who beat Manhattan in five games earlier in the day, went 3-0 on the weekend. Liesbeth Gorremans added 16 kills and 15 digs for SMS and Erin Murphy had 11 kills. Southwest Missouri State lost game one and trailed, 10-3, in the second game before staging an impressive comeback. The Titans made their own rally late in the second game to tie it, 29-29, but Gorremans and Murphy had back-to-back kills to even the match at 1-1. After a 30-23 win in game three, the Bears built an early 5-1 lead in the fourth game and maintained the narrow margin the rest of the way. The Titans (2-1) closed to within 27-23 late, but got no closer. Fullerton was led by all-tournament selections Megan Sabo (21 kills, 11 digs), Be Holcombe (19 kills, four blocks) and Kim Levey (59 assists, 18 digs). Saturday Scores: Cal State Fullerton def.
