Titans Drop Third Straight at San Diego

The 65th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team (2-0) opened the 2005
campaign with two wins over Big West Conference schools, UC Riverside
(0-1) and Cal State Fullerton (0-3) at Barnes Tennis Center. In the first
of two matches, the Aztecs defeated UC Riverside, 5-2, and downed Cal
State Fullerton, 6-1, to complete the doubleheader.
In the match against UC Riverside, SDSU won five of the six singles matches.
Sophomore Alesya Vidov beat Michelle Beyonneau in straight sets, 6-1,
6-1, at number one singles. Four others, Dita Hauerlandova, Indra Erichsen,
Nina Spaeth and Sisse Nielsen, also recorded singles victories versus
the Highlanders.
In the second half of the doubleheader, the Aztecs won nine of the 10
matches, including a doubles sweep.
The team of Hauerlandova/Vidov defeated the Titans' number one duo of
Ruya Inapulat/Carla Rocha. Erichsen and Andrea Hermansen notched an 8-0
victory at number two and the freshman tandem of Spaeth/Nielsen won 8-2
at the third spot.
In singles action, SDSU scored straight sets victories at the number two
through seven positions. Hauerlandova, Erichsen, Hermansen, Spaeth, Nielsen
and Carla Bell all won to help secure the Aztecs' second victory of the
day.
