Weekley Named Big West Co-Pitcher of
the Week May 9, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton sophomore Brooke Weekley garnered the Titans’
second consecutive Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week laurels on
Monday (May 9), sharing the honor with Long Beach State’s Meredith
Cervenka.
The award is the third conference weekly honor for Fullerton this season
as Weekley joins previous winners Candice Baker (Feb. 9) and Marissa Marzan
(May 2).
It is the first career Pitcher of the Week honor for Weekley, who carried
a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Saturday’s game two victory
over Pacific, retiring the first 11 batters she faced and 17 of the first
19 en route to her fifth win of the season. She allowed only two hits
and struck out a career-high 10 batters.
Cal State Fullerton closes out the 2005 next weekend (May 13-14) as the
Titans play host to Cal State Northridge at the Titan Softball Complex.
Friday night's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. with Saturday's single game
beginning at 1 p.m.
