Cal State Fullerton sophomore Candice Baker had a pair of hits and two
RBi and newcomer Ashley Van Boxmeer had a two-run home run in the third
as the 2005 Titans defeated the Fullerton softball alumnae squad, 7-0,
on Saturday afternoon at the Titan Softball Complex.
More than 20 former Titan softall greats were on hand to participate as
this year's Titan squad avenged a 3-0 loss in last year's exhibition.
Four other current Titans had hits on the day and the '05 pitching staff
held the alumnae hitless until the fourth when late-arriving Raquel "Rocky"
Medina (1995-98) singled with one out.
Heidi Robertson (1992-95) and Jenny Topping (2001-03) also had hits for
the alumnae, including Topping's double to left center in the fifth.
Baker also pitched well in the circle, striking out three of the six batters
she faced while sophomore Brooke Weekley had a pair of K's in the fourth.
Cal State Fullerton officially kicks off the season on Feb. 5-6 as the
Titans take on host and defending national champion UCLA and Georgia at
the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Classic.
