Bertucci's Walk-Off Blast Sinks Titans
Mar. 18, 2004 – Fullerton, Calif.

Box Score

Louisiana-Lafayette's Lacey Bertucci's two-run walk-off home run with no outs in the bottom of the seventh lifted the No. 10 Ragin' Cajuns to a 3-1 pool play victory over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday night at the Titan Softball Complex.

The Titans fell to 7-17 overall on the year while ULL improved to 27-3.

Bertucci's home run spoiled a solid outing for Fullerton freshman Brooke Weekley (4-8) in the circle, who had allowed just a run and four hits until that point. Brooke Mitchell (21-2), on the other hand, dominated the Titan bats, allowing just four hits and striking out 15 batters on the night.

Cal State Fullerton struck first in the second inning as freshman Tiffany Hoff cranked her first career home run over the left field fence, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead.

That advantage was short lived, however, as Crystal George evened things up in the third with a home run of her own to left to knot the game at 1-1.

Julie Watson, Candice Baker, and Jenna Wheeler each had hits for the Titans while five different players had hits for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Play in the Kia Klassic continues on Thursday at 9 a.m. on both fields of the Titan Softball Complex. Cal State Fullerton will take on DePaul in the final rond of pool play games on Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m.
