Jan. 28, 2004 – Fullerton, Calif.

The Cal State Fullerton softball team debuted at No. 13 in the nation according to a vote of the country's head coaches in a poll released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday morning.

The Titans received 329 points in the preseason poll, standing 46 points back of DePaul for the No. 12 position. Defending national champion UCLA received 26 of 27 first-place votes and stands atop the list followed by Arizona, California (which received the final first-place vote), Oklahoma, and Washington to round out the top five.

Fullerton's schedule is loaded with ranked teams from this poll as the Titans will meet seven of the top 10 teams, six more ranked in the top 25, and six more schools in the receiving votes section.

The Titans open the season with an exhibition doubleheader against the Canadian National Team on Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. before opening the season for real in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Arizona State Fiesta Bowl Classic on Feb. 13-15.
