Ranked No. 16 in ESPN/USA Softball Poll Jan. 15, 2004 Fullerton, Calif. Cal State Fullerton, coming off of its fourth-consecutive Big West Conference title and fifth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, was ranked No. 16 in the preseason ESPN.com/USA Softball coaches poll released on Wednesday. The Titans, 41-15 overall and 20-1 in the Big West Conference last season, finished 2003 ranked ninth in the final poll following an early exit from regional action. Cal State Fullerton returns just five letterwinners and three position starters from last year's squad, and was selected to finish second in the Big West according to a poll of the conference's coaches. Fullerton's schedule is loaded with ranked teams from this poll as the Titans will meet seven of the top 10 teams, seven more ranked in the top 25, and seven more schools in the receiving votes section. The Titans open the season with an exhibition doubleheader against the Canadian National Team on Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. before opening the season for real in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Arizona State Fiesta Bowl Classic on Feb. 13-15.
