DePaul Hitters Leave Titans Winless in
Pool Play Mar. 19, 2004 - Fullerton, Calif.

DePaul scored six runs in the first three innings, keyed by home runs
from Linda Secka and Saskia Roberson to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 9-3,
in the final game of pool play at the 2004 Kia Klassic.
The Titans fell to 7-18 overall and finished the pool play portion of
the Kia Klassic with an 0-3 record, claiming the fourth seed out of pool
C. Fullerton will meet Big West rival Pacific, the fourth seed out of
pool B, on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
Freshman Candice Baker (3-10) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on
three hits in only an inning of work. Brooke Weekley threw the final six
innings, allowing three earned on five hits.
Sarah Martz earned the win, allowing an earned run on nine hits with seven
strikeouts.
DePaul scored three in the first on a two-run home run to left by Linda
Secka and a sacrifice fly by Dana Kenney. The Blue Demons tacked on two
more in the second on another two-run bomb to left by Saskia Roberson.
A sac fly by Sarah Douglas in the third put the Titans in a hole, out
of which they would never climb out of.
DePaul scored twice more in the sixth on a throwing error before Fullerton
got on the board in the bottom of the inning on a two-run, pinch-hit RBI
single by Crystal Medina.
The Blue Demons added another on an error in the seventh and the Titans
scored for the final time on an RBI double by Baker.
Baker, Jenna Wheeler, and Monica Tantlinger each had two hits for the
Titans. Secka and Katie Sheaks had two hits for DePaul.
