Titans Named to National Teams June 9, 2003 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton seniors Jenny Topping, Gina Oaks and Jodie Cox, along
with Head Coach Michelle Gromacki, will represent the United States this
summer as members of the 2003 U.S. National Teams in international competition.
A group of 50 of the nation's top softball players was narrowed down to
an 18-player roster for the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican
Republic, after participating in a tryout camp last weekend in Chula Vista,
Calif.
Topping, a first-team All-American in 2003 and three-time Big West Player
of the Year, will represent the Titans on that roster, joining six members
from the 2000 team that won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics and
11 other players -- six of whom competed in this year's Women's College
World Series.
Oaks and Cox were named to the 2003 USA Softball Elite Team, which will
compete in the Canada Cup (July 4-13) and in an exhibition series against
Australia in San Francisco (July 15-20).
This is Oaks' second appearance on the Elite Team, playing with the squad
during the summer of 2002.
Gromacki will once again be an assistant coach for the Elite team after
serving in the same capacity last summer.
