LaRocque Earns First Player of the Week Honor March 25, 2003 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton senior infielder Amy LaRocque (Fontana, Calif./A.B.
Miller HS) was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday
for her part in the Titans' doubleheader split with No. 2 Arizona.
It is the first career honor for LaRocque and the fifth time in eight
weeks a Titan has been named player of the week.
LaRocque hit .500 (3-for-6) for the week, with two runs scored, a double
and five RBI against the Wildcats. She slugged .667 for the day and was
second on the team with a .625 on base percentage.
The third baseman wen 2-for-3 in Fullerton's 15-3, six-inning game two
victory, with a two-run double in the first inning to help stake the Titans
to the 4-0 lead, and a two-run single later in the sixth inning. The four
RBI set a new career high for LaRocque while the two runs scored tied
her career best.
In game one, LaRocque was 1-for-3 with a bases loaded walk in the third
inning to help give Cal State Fullerton the early lead.
The Titans return to action on Tuesday (March 25) when they host No. 1
UCLA at the Titan Softball Complex in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
Cal State Fullerton then opens Big West Conference play on Saturday (March
29) with a doubleheader against Utah State at 1 p.m., and closing out
the series with a single game against the Aggies on Sunday (March 30)
at 1 p.m.
