Holt Named Player of the Week April 8, 2003 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton junior catcher Jennifer Holt was named the Big West
Conference Player of the Week after her performance in a three-game series
at Cal State Northridge last weekend.
It is the first career Player of the Week award for Holt, who became the
fifth different Titan to earn the honor this season. In all, a Cal State
Fullerton player has been named player of the week six times in the first
10 weeks of the season.
Holt paced the Titan offense to a three-game sweep of the Matadors this
past weekend, hitting .571 (4-for-7) with a pair of doubles, a run scored
and four RBI. She slugged .857 for the week and tallied a .571 on-base
percentage in the series.
After an 0-for-1 performance in game one of the series snapped her brief
four-game hitting streak, Holt registered two multi-hit games, including
a pair of two-run doubles, in the final two contests of the series.
The two hits and two RBI in each of those games tied career high's in
those respective categories.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action this weekend when the Titans open
a three-game series with Big West rival Pacific at the Titan Softball
Complex. It is a match-up of the league's two hottest teams and the top
two finishers in the Big West Conference in each of the past two seasons.
Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game will both begin at 1
p.m.
