Titans End 2003 With a Pair of Top 10 Rankings May 28, 2003 Fullerton, Calif.
The 2003 Cal State Fullerton softball team's run to the Women's College
World Series was cut short prematurely, but that didn't stop the voters
from ranking the Titans among the top 10 teams in the nation.
Fullerton finishes the 2003 season ranked No. 10 in the National Fastpitch
Coaches Association poll, dropping four spots from No. 6 -- the highest
ranking ever achieved under Head Coach Michelle Gromacki's tenure.
It is the second consecutive season that the Titans have finished in the
top 10 of the NFCA poll after ending the 2002 season ranked No. 9. Cal
State Fullerton has finished in the top 20 in each of Gromacki's four
seasons at the helm.
The Titans also finished No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Coaches Poll,
36 points behind Louisiana-Lafayette, which won the regional hosted by
Cal State Fullerton at the Titan Softball Complex.
Fullerton finished the year with a 41-15 overall record and a 20-1 mark
in Big West Conference play to earn its fourth consecutive, and a league-best
seventh overall, Big West Conference championship.
