Jodie Cox Named to NFCA All-Tournament Team Feb. 26, 2003 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton senior Jodie Cox (Lancaster, Calif/Quartz Hill HS)
was one of 13 players named to the 2003 NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament
team by virtue of her performances last weekend.
Cox was 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate with three runs scored, a double
and three RBI in three games for the Titans, who went 2-1 at the tournament.
She was 4-for-5 in Cal State Fullerton's come-from-behind victory against
LSU in the first game and was 2-for-3 against Villanova in the Titans'
tournament finale.
Cox's two-out single in the seventh against the Tigers, brought the Titans
back from a 6-4 deficit to tie the game at 6-6 and, after stealing second,
scored the game-winning run when Jenny Topping's inning-ending ground
ball was thrown away by the LSU shortstop.
Against the Wildcats, Cox scored the game-winner on Amy LaRocque's RBI
single in the fourth.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action this weekend when it hosts the 10-team
Worth Softball Invitational at the Titan Softball Complex beginning on
Friday (Feb. 28) at 10 a.m. and running through Sunday (March 2).
