2002 Softball
Erika Blanco enters her second season on the Cal State Fullerton staff after a prestigious playing career at Fresno State and a stint as a head coach at Bullard High School in Fresno, Calif.. She will work primarily with the Titan infielders while also assisting head coach Michelle Gromacki in other aspects of the program. She spent four years as a Bulldog (1992-96) under head coach Margie Wright, earning the career achievement award after her senior season. Blanco helped the team to four NCAA Regional appearances, a Western Athletic Conference crown in 1996, and an appearance in the NCAA College World Series in 1995. During her senior year, Blanco had a breakout season for the Bulldogs, hitting a career-best .315 with one home run and 43 RBI. She scored 15 runs that season to help the team to the WAC title. As a high school head coach at Bullard, Blanco helped lead the Knights to four straight North Yosemite League Championships in 1997-2000. During the 1999 season, Blanco guided Bullard HS to the CIF Central Section Valley Championship en route to the California state title and a National Championship. Blanco was a four-time North Yosemite League Coach of the Year, the 1999 CIF Central Section Coach of the Year, and, along with her staff at Bullard, was a recipient of the 1999 National Fastpitch Coaches Association West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Born in Fresno, Calif., her parents are Pete and Mary and she has two younger brothers: Peter and Michael. Blanco earned a degree in Liberal Studies from Fresno State in 1997.
