Titan Offense Bangs Out 14 hits in 11-2 Win Over Northwestern

Box Score – Cal State Fullerton vs. Northwestern

Poway, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton offense woke up in a big way on Saturday, banging out 14 hits and smacking three home runs on the morning as the Titans cruised to an 11-2 victory over Northwestern in six innings.

Senior Christy Robitaille (1-2) earned her first victory of the season, throwing five innings and allowing just two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out four. Gina Oaks threw the final inning in relief, allowing just two hits and striking out two.

However, it was the offense’s morning as eight of the nine Titan starters had at least one hit and Jodie Cox, Gina Oaks, Amanda Hockett and Shawna Robinson had two hits on the day. The power surge continued as Cox, Oaks and Hockett also had home runs on the morning as Cox smacked her second in the first inning, while Oaks and Hockett went back-to-back in a three-run fifth.

The Titans scored in every inning but the third and actually had the chance to end the game earlier, leading 9-0 in the fifth before Northwestern scored twice on a bases-loaded walk and an RBI groundout to second base.
