No. 18 Pacific put a stop to the nation's longest winning streak, winning the second game of a doubleheader with No. 7 Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference clash for first place at Bill Simoni Field on Saturday afternoon in Stockton, Calif.

The Titans won game one, 1-0, before the Tigers rallied for a 3-2 victory in the second game.

Cal State Fullerton is now 41-10 overall on the season and 13-1 in the Big West Conference. The loss also snapped an 18-game Big West Conference winning streak for the Titans. Pacific is 35-13 overall and 14-2 in league play.

In game one, junior lefthander Jodie Cox threw her second no-hitter of the season, and the fourth of her career, as the Titans shutout the Tigers, 1-0.

Cox (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill HS) and the Fullerton defense did not allow a runner past second base for the game as Cox set down 15 consecutive batters before an error in the seventh snapped the streak.

The Titans got all the runs they would need in the first, as Gina Oaks led off with a single to the left side, advanced to second on a passed ball and stole third base. Senior Monica Lucatero then singled her home with a drive to left centerfield for the 1-0 advantage.

Pacific threatened in the second, putting runners on first and second with one out, but Jodie Cox got Cindy Ball to pop out to the catcher and Estee Okumura to strikeout swinging to end the inning.

Cox (14-4) then went to work, allowing only a hit batter in the second while striking out eight and walking a batter on the day. All but two Tiger batters struck out at least once. Jenny Topping and Amy LaRocque also had hits on the day for Fullerton.

Ball (21-9) took the loss, allowing the lone run (unearned) on four hits and striking out eight while walking only one.

In game two, Pacific's Estee Okumura doubled to right field to drive home Barbara Moody while Cindy Ball closed things out in the seventh for her sixth save of the season as the Tigers halted the Titans' 32-game winning streak with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

Cal State Fullerton struck first in their half of the fourth, as a two-out fielding error by the Tiger second baseman scored pinch-runner Heather Saltarelli from third for the 1-0 lead.

The Titans added another in the fifth as senior Monica Lucatero drew a two-out, bases loaded walk to make it 2-0. However, a chance to blow things open was thwarted by Tiger starting pitcher Jennifer Dacre, who struck out Yasmin Mossadeghi looking on a tight inside pitch to end the threat.

Pacific rallied back in the sixth, putting up three runs and sending nine batters to the plate. Barbara Moody's RBI single, which got past the Titan centerfielder and rolled to the fence, plated two runs and Estee Okumura doubled to right field for the go-ahead run.

Gina Oaks then entered the game for the Titans in relief of Christy Robitaille and promptly walked Boni Kading to load the bases. However, Oaks then struck out catcher Ashlie D'Errico and induced second baseman Aloha Yamaguchi to ground out to her counterpart at second base to end the threat.

The Titans had something started in the seventh as Lucatero doubled to the left centerfield fence with two outs, but Ball got Mossadeghi to strikeout swinging to end the game. Fullerton left eight runners on base for the game.

Cal State Fullerton and Pacific meet on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. in the deciding third and final game of the series at Bill Simoni Field.
