Oaks Named Big West Co-Pitcher of the Week
Apr. 3, 2002 – Fullerton, Calif.

Cal State Fullerton junior pitcher Gina Oaks was named the Big West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday morning after throwing her first career no-hitter against Utah State, the conference office announced.

It is the fourth time this year that Oaks has either won or shared pitcher of the week honors this season, winning the award on Mar. 4 and sharing the honor on Mar. 11 and Mar. 18.

Oaks (Alta Loma, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga HS) allowed just two walks and struck out eight in the Titans’ 2-0 victory over the Aggies on Friday (Mar. 29) in the first game of a Big West Conference doubleheader in Logan, Utah.

It was the first no-no for Oaks who had thrown seven one-hitters, including two this year in wins over Missouri and Fresno State, in her two-plus year career in a Cal State Fullerton uniform.

Oaks is currently 15-2 for the seventh-ranked Titans with a 0.74 ERA. She has struckout 129 in 113 2/3 innings and has allowed just 16 runs (12 earned) on 60 hits during that span. Opponents are batting just .152 against her this season.
