Cal State Fullerton junior catcher Jenny Topping slugged her sixth home run of the season in the fifth inning just seconds before a magnitude 3.2 earthquake shook the southland and helped lead the No. 9 Titans to a, 6-0, shutout of No. 10 Fresno State on Saturday night at the Titan Softball Complex. "It was just a great feeling," Topping said after the game. Fullerton improved to 25-9 overall on the season and has won its last 16 consecutive games and 17 of its last 18. The Titans are a perfect 5-0 in the Kia Klassic and will meet No. 8 Arizona State in the second semifinal game on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Fresno State fell to 25-8 overall and finished the Kia Klassic with a 3-2 record. Topping, who missed the first month of the season to injury, is hitting .812 for the tournament after Saturday's two victories, including nine runs scored, two doubles, five home runs and 10 RBI. She is slugging 1.875 in her last five games. Fullerton junior Gina Oaks (13-2) got the victory for the Titans, going the distance and allowing just one hit an infield single to Jaime Southern in the first inning. She struck out 10 batters and walked just three. Oaks set the Bulldogs down in order in the second, third, fifth and seventh innings while allowing just one baserunner in the first, fourth and sixth innings. The Titans got on the board in the first on an RBI single by Yasmin Mossadeghi (2-for-3) to right center for the 1-0 lead and added another in the third on an RBI double by Monica Lucatero (2-for-4). The Titans have scored in the first inning of every game in the 2002 Kia Klassic. Fullerton scored t wice in the fifth on Topping's home run and twice more in the sixth on an RBI single bby Oaks, who would later score on an error by the FSU catcher to make the score 6-0. The Titans allowed a runner to reach second base only twice in the game and struck out the final batter in the inning four different times. ####
