Trio Named All-Americans May 23, 2002 Fullerton, Calif. Junior catcher Jenny Topping and junior pitcher/infielder Gina Oaks were named to the first team, while senior outfielder Yasmin Mossadeghi was named a third-team All-American. With these selections, the Titans now boast 25 All-Americans in the history of the program and they account for 32 berths on the All-America teams. Topping (Whittier, Calif./La Habra HS/Univ. of Washington) was named an at-large first-team selection for the second consecutive season after leading the team with a .472 average, nine home runs and 33 RBI. Oaks (Alta Loma, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga HS) earned her first All-America honor as the utility player after a steller offensive season and a record-breaking year in the circle. At the plate, she hit .301 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI while ranking tied for second on the single-season lists wit 52 runs scored just three short of tying Toppings school record of 55 runs set in 2001. Oaks was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week five different times and also earned a Player of the Week honor from the league. Mossadeghi (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison HS) also earned her first All-America honor in her final campaign in a Cal State Fullerton uniform, hitting .367 on the season to go with a Big West-leading 13 home runs and 45 RBI. She has led the Big West in home runs the last three consecutive years and holds the school and league record for career home runs with 47. The awards were announced Wednesday at the banquet prior to the NCAA Division I Softball WomenÌs College World Series in Oklahoma City. All three teams were selected by NFCA-member NCAA Division I coaching representatives, based on nominations from the 2002 season.
