Named Big West Player of the Week Feb. 11, 2002 – Fullerton, Calif. Cal State Fullerton senior infielder Monica Lucatero (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei HS) was named Big West Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon, after her performance at the 2002 Fiesta Bowl Classic hosted by Arizona State last weekend. Lucatero hit .636 in the five games for the Titans, going 7-for-11 with two runs scored, four RBI and four walks. She was 1-for-2 in Cal State Fullerton’s victory over Fresno State on Friday and a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI against Texas on Sunday in the tournament finale for both teams. She was also 2-for-4 with and RBI against Nebraska and was 1-for-1 with two RBI and a pair of walks in the loss to Texas A&M. The Titans are currently 3-4 overall this season. Cal State Fullerton returns to action this weekend as they travel south to compete in the Campbell/Cartier Classic hosted by San Diego State. The tournament begins on Friday with games against Florida International and No. 3 Stanford and runs through the weekend. ####
