From the Bench
Sept. 7, 2004 – Fullerton, Calif.

""We are facing a very difficult part of our schedule (next six opponents are ranked in the Top 13 in the nation according to Soccer America). Indiana has a new coach, the former assistant, and graduated six or seven key players, but they are ranked No. 1 again. Notre Dame is ranked No. 8 or No. 9 and has most of its people back.

"We are coming off a very difficult weekend. We will have to learn from it. I think we got better as the tournament progressed, particularly the second half of the second game. It was unfortunate the result went the way it did.

"We are definitely minus two key players due to injuries in Amir Shafii and Marco Rodriguez, who are out indefinitely. Sean Gallinger also is hurting, but he might be able to play on Friday and should be ready by Sunday.

"We still are confident but it is imperative that we keep our chins up. We had a good workout Tuesday morning."
