From the Bench...
Sept. 9, 2003– Fullerton, Calif.

Coach Al Mistri:

"The game at the University of San Diego Thursday night is a crucial game for us. It's a match within our region and we just have to go down there to win. We will start thinking about UCLA on Friday.

"We played three excellent halves last weekend, but the fourth one was devastating.
The results would indicate that we got wiped out, but the truth is totally different.

"We had the first game (vs. Stanford) in hand all the way, but some of the saves and some of the shots we missed, it was an incredible thing to see,and they finally broke through.

"The second game (vs. California) we finally got on track in the second half and came back in the closing minutes. But we were pressing hard and they countered with a clinching goal.

"Ignacio Cid suffered a concussion but may be able to play this weekend. We will take a conservative approach.

"The conference is doing well... no team has a losing record and UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge have gained the national polls. Penn State helped our power rating by going 2-0 last weekend (2-1 over Bradley and 3-2 over No. 21-ranked Tulsa)."
