Explode in Second Half to Beat Titans Sept. 23, 2001 Los Angeles, Calif. Box Score The seventh-ranked UCLA men's soccer team scored three second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and go on to defeat 16th-ranked Cal State Fullerton, 4-1, at UCLA's Frank W. Marshall Field. Bruin forward Cliff McKinley began the scoring at the 17:44 mark when he took a Jimmy Frazelle pass and dribbled it up the right side before firing a shot past Fullerton keeper Jeff McKeever. The Titans equalized 16 minutes later when midfielder Keith Buckley scored on a rebounded shot at the 33:39 mark. UCLA came out of the gates quickly in the second half. In the 49th minute, Tim Pierce fired a shot that McKeever got a hand on, but Pierce did not give up on the play and collected the rebound for the second-effort goal, his team-leading fourth of the season. Freshman Ahmed Khalil earned his first career goal in the 60th minute when he slotted in a shot from the far left side of the field. Adolfo Gregorio rounded out the scoring with his first goal of the season. Gregorio was assisted by freshman Mike Enfield, who had entered the game just 18 seconds earlier. UCLA improves its record to 3-2-1, while Cal State Fullerton drops to 2-2-1. The Titans had beaten UCLA in four of their previous five meetings but they haven't won at UCLA since 1987, a span of seven consecutive losses. Fullerton begins Big West Conference play Wednesday night hosting UC Riverside at 7 p.m. The match was rescheduled from Sept. 16. The Titans conclude the week on Saturday with a match against their "young" alumni at 6 p.m. It will be preceded by a scrimmage between two teams of "older" alumni.
