Oughton
Named "Mr. Utility" by Soccer America Nov. 14, 2001 Fullerton, Calif. Former Cal State Fullerton men's soccer player Duncan Oughton was named Mr. Utility on Tuesday by Soccer America magazine in its yearly position-by-position player rankings for the 2001 Major League Soccer season. This year's rankings included the "Mr. Utility" category to address the issue of many players pressed into playings numerous positions throughout the year. In his rookie season with the Columbus Crew, Oughton filled in at numerous positions while tallying one assist and 16 shots this season. The first round draft pick (10th overall) appeared in 20 matches, starting 12. Oughton finished his career in a Cal State Fullerton uniform in 2000 after setting school records in single-season points (42) and career points (97). He also holds the career record for goals (41) and stands tied for eighth in assists (15).
