Coach Burton's Contract Extended thru 2009-10 In the 2004-05 season, the second year of his original four-year pact, Burton guided the Titans to their second best season ever. Fullerton had the best record among Southern California Div. I schools at 21-11 and it included the school’s first two victories in the Post-Season NIT. The Titans placed third in the Big West Conference, their best showing in 20 years, with a 12-6 mark and they won their first post-season tournament game since 1998. Forced by early-season injuries to play a small lineup, the Titans played a free-wheeling, up-tempo style that put them atop the Big West in scoring and helped draw the two biggest crowds in 12 seasons to Titan Gym. “I knew when I hired Bob that he was absolutely the right person for the job and he has exceeded my expectations earlier than I thought,” said Director of Athletics Brian Quinn. “We made a commitment to each other and I’m delighted we will continue to work together.” “It was an easy decision to stay,” said Burton, who was being courted by at least two other schools, “based on the players we have coming back and the loyalty issue. This school gave me a Div. I opportunity and now they have stepped up again.” Fullerton loses high-scoring forwards Ralphy Holmes and Yaphett King, both second-team all-conference selections. But starters Bobby Brown, Jamaal Brown and Jermaine Harper return and they will be joined by a large recruiting class with size. The Titans also have three redshirts in the program, most notably wing player Frank Robinson, a transfer from East Carolina.. ####
