Holmes Gets Team MVP Award
Apr. 12, 2005– Fullerton, Calif.


Senior forward Ralphy Holmes was selected Most Valuable Player of the 2004-05 Cal State Fullerton men's basketball team and received his trophy at Tuesday night's awards banquet at the Fullerton Marriott Hotel.

Other awards went to senior forward Yaphett King (Captain's Award and Coach's Award), senior forward Hardy Asprilla (Most Inspirational), junior guard Jermaine Harper (Most Improved) and sophomore guard Bobby Brown (Competitor of the Year). The awards were presented by the coaching staff.

Holmes led the Big West Conference in scoring (16.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg). King blossomed as an offensive threat in the conference portion of the schedule and averaged 14.7 ppg in Big West games. Asprilla was leading the conference in rebounding until he was lost for the year in the 12th game to a knee injury. Harper was second on the team with 70 3-point field goals in his first competitive season since transferring from Virginia. Brown was second in the conference in 3-point field goals made (2.66 pg) and third in scoring (16.8 ppg), assists (4.66 apg) and free-throw percentage (.827) while playing a team high 1,149 minutes.
