Bron Groomes (pronounced BRAWN GROOMS) was one of the unsung heroes of the Titans' improvement in 2002-03... None of his numbers jump out but he was a consistent contributor who accepted an often-changing role... Early in the season he was featured in the offense but then focused on defense and rebounding in conference play... Has good leaping ability and quickness around the basket... Will miss at least the early part of the season due to severed tendon in little finger on his right hand suffered in off-court incident.

CSF IN 2002-03: Played in all but one of the team's 29 games, missing the Sacramento State game due to a sprained ankle... Started 8 times... Averaged 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game... Scored in double figures in five of his first nine games but then only one other time all season... Kept the Titans in the game at USF on Dec. 28 with a strong comeback performance from his ankle injury... Came off the bench to hit 6 of 7 shots on his way to a season-high 16 points including 10 of the team's 25 in the first half... Had 13 points and a season-high 11 rebounds in home win over Idaho on Feb. 22, playing 41 minutes.

SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE: Played for Coach John Smith at San Bernardino Valley College in 2001-02... Team advanced to the state Sweet Sixteen... Averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds and earned All-Foothill Conference honors for the Wolverines, who went 24-8... Shot 50.2 percent from the floor (134 of 267) and 64.6 percent from the foul line (93 of 144)... Had a high scoring game of 25 points.

SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE: Played his freshman season (1999-2000) for Coach Shawn Scanlan at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas... Averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds for the Texans.

BOYS AND GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL: Two-year varsity letterman for a female coach, Ruth Lovelace, at Boys and Girls High School (class of 1999) of the Public School Athletic League in Brooklyn... Earned all-city honors as a power forward as a senior for the Kangaroos, who have won nine city championships.

PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 14, 1981, in Brooklyn, New York... Parents are James Groomes and Holistine Grant... Communications major... Occupational goal is to be an A&R (artists and repertoire) director of a record company... Credits Coaches Smith and Joe Huff because they helped to develop his game... Likes to listen to rap music and shop... Played in the 2001 Say No Classic for Simon's Riverside Slam... Full name is Bron Rasheed Groomes... Nickname is Slim.
