True freshman guard Bobby Brown scored 27 points and five other Titans
were in double figures Thursday night as Cal State Fullerton beat Branch
West, 110-79, in a mens basketball exhibition in the coaching debut
for Bob Burton.
Brown hit 7 of 8 shots from 3-point range and the Titans shot 57 per cent
from behind the arch. Pape Sow had 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Anthony Bolton and Zakee Smith each scored 12 points. Both Smith and forward
Hardy Asprilla had 8 assists.
Ricky White from the University of Maine scored 24 points and had 5 rebounds
to lead Branch West.
It was great to start off with a win. That was exactly the way we
needed to start off, said Burton, an assistant at Fresno State last
year. Every winning experience is important for us. We know the
competition will get a lot tougher as we go.
I was happy with the effort. We played hard and together. Bobby
Brown was really good. Hes a gamer and hes going to be a great
player for us.
The Titans scored the first 10 points of the game and Branch West never
got closer than 6 points. The Titans led 53-31 at the half.
